About Us
The Chung Wah Association was officially established in Perth in 1909 to meet the social, cultural and political needs of Chinese in Western Australia.

Today, the Association has attained the status of being the representative body for the Chinese community in Western Australia. Its members include people of Chinese descent from all parts of the world, including mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Brunei. The Association also has associate
Chung Wah Cultural Centre
members who are not of Chinese descent from the community at large.

The Association aims to promote the Chinese culture through its cultural groups - the Chung Wah Dragon and Lion Troupe, the Chung Wah Dance and the Chung Wah Chinese Instruments Orchestra. The Association also promotes inter-cultural exchange through its School Visit Program. To promote the learning of the Chinese language, the Association runs the Chung Wah Chinese School at three campuses on Saturdays of the school terms. The Chinese School is open to all Australians. Currently there are about 1100 students enrolled at the school.

One major part of the Association is the Community and Aged Care Services. Services provided include the Community Visitors Scheme, Centre Based Day Care, Panda Community Aged Care Packages, Domestic Assistance, Social Support, Transport, Day Long Respite Care and Migrant and Community Services. The Centre Based Day Care program was extended to Vietnamese, Cambodian and Thai seniors in recent years.

Being a not-for-profit organization, the Association is strongly supported by no less than 200 volunteers contributing in the different areas of the Association.
