Friendly Associations - Shandong Association of Western Australia

The Shandong Association of Western Australia (SAWA) was formed in 2005 to create a platform of friendship and activities between friends and associates of Shandong province; as well as promoting social, cultural and economic exchanges between Shandong Province and Western Australia.

Shandong province is the home of three of the most celebrated personalities in Chinese history, Confucius, Mencius (the two leading figures of Confucianism, as well as Sun Zi, the best known military strategist. Modern Shandong is the richest province in Northern China, the second richest in the Nation after Guangdong.

Since its inception the Shandong Association has good relationship with Chung Wah Association. She was one of the organisations which joined Chung Wah to celebrate the 60th anniversary of founding of modern China last year.

SAWA seeks to promote the teachings of Confucius, Mencius and Sun Zi. They plan to organise a public forum on the teaching of Confucius, to coincide with the coming Mid-Autumn festival in September.
