Tomorrow, Thursday 22 January, Australians will come together for a National Day of Mourning to honour the victims and all those impacted by the Bondi Beach terrorist attack.

The national theme for the day is “Light will win, a gathering of unity and remembrance” – a message of hope and unity to guide and inspire Australians, as we move forward. It is a time to pause, reflect, and honour those who lost their lives, as well as all those affected by this act of violence.

It is also an opportunity to recognise that people do not need to share the same background or faith to stand together in compassion and resolve. Everyone is invited to observe a minute of silence at 4:01pm AWST (7:01pm AEDT) and to leave a candle on their doorstep or window.

As we come together in our chosen ways tomorrow, we do so together with respect, compassion, and a shared commitment to looking out for one another.
