Chung Wah Chinese New Year Ball 2026 was held successfully on Saturday, 28 February 2026 at Joondalup Resort. The event is the premier signature event on the Western Australian Chinese community calendar. Celebrate in style as we usher in the Year of the Fire Horse with an unforgettable evening of joy, culture, and connection.
From 6pm, nearly 400 VIPs and Guests arrived and attend the event and celebrate the year of Horse.
7:00pm – 7:30pm, Chung Wah Lion Dance Troupe’s fantastic and interesting performance attracted the VIPs and Guests.
Chair of the Chung Wah Chinese Ball Committee Mr Yudy Kodratjaya for welcome speech, and started Chinese New Year “Yam Seng” toast and Yusheng Tosing, The guests enjoy the Yusheng Prosperity Tossed Salad.
Mr Daniel Pastorelli MLA, Representative of Hon Roger Cook MLA, Premier of Western Australia and Hon Rita Saffioti, Deputy Premier of Western Australia delivered a speech first, Mr Basil Zempilas MLA, Leader of Opposition, Mr Sam Lim MP, Member for Tangney, ,Consul General Lihua Fu – Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Perth delivered the speech, at last, Andy Yuan, President of Chung Wah Association gave a speech and thanks all attendees, He said: Chinese people have been coming to Western Australia for more than 200 years. We come from different places and speak different dialects, but we have worked together to build our home in Western Australia.
The Chung Wah Association has been established for 117 years. Our predecessors built the property in Northbridge, and forty years ago they built the cultural centre in Balcatta. The Chung Wah Association has become the spiritual home and source of inspiration for Chinese people in Western Australia. We are now building a third community centre — this is for our next 100 years.
President Yuan invited Eddie from the builder of this project to come up to the stage. Eddie then briefly reported on the construction progress of the Chung Wah Association Community Centre in Bentley. Afterwards, he especially invited Kate Doust MLC who helped with Chung Wah Association Community Centre project all the time to the stage. after that president Yuan invited Chung Wah Association Council of Elders members, Executive Committee members and key staffs to the stage to take photo with all VIPs.
In the Event, Mr Jun Zhang and Ms Lyn performed singing and Erhu performance, the attendees danced happily with the life band and singer, the wonderful music and songs recall the memories of Chinese New Year celebration in their life.
During the event, the auction and raffle tickets selling get a lot support from the guests, Dr. Bob Tan conducted a lively and engaging auction together with a professional auctioneer. the fundraising is for the Chung Wah Association Community Centre in Bentley which under construction.
